Diaconate of Paul

On Saturday 20th August 2016, Paul Phu Van Lu was ordained to the Order of Deacons in St Michael’s Cathedral, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia, by The Most Reverend Gerard Hanna, DD. Friends and family came from all over to be present for the ordination of Reverend Lu. Also present were a large number of the Vietnamese Community, as well as fellow seminarians, clergy from the Wagga Diocese, visiting clergy and many parishioners from the Wagga region.

Admission to Candidacy for Wagga Wagga Diocese

On Thursday evening 16th November 2017, during the 6:00 pm Mass at St Michael’s Cathedral, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. Most Reverend Francis Carroll, Bishop Emeritus of Wagga Wagga and Archbishop Emeritus of Canberra-Goulburn, admitted as candidates for ordination to the diaconate and presbyterate the following men: Simon Greet, Cyprian Onuorah, Rosan Vettikomibil and Connell Perry. We congratulate these men on reaching this next stage in their formation to the priesthood and offer to them, together with their families, the continued support of our prayers and encouragement, as they continue on their journey to the priesthood.

Ordination to the Diaconate for the Diocese of Armidale - Henry Kingsley Kanayo Etoh

On 19 March 2016 Henry Kingsley Kanayo Etoh a seminarian for the diocese of Armidale in New South Wales, Australia, was ordained to the diaconate in Mary Help of Christians Church, South Tamworth, New South Wales, by The Most Reverend Michael Kennedy, DD, Bishop of Armidale. The celebration was a joyous occasion for Reverend Etoh and all the community.

Ordination to Priesthood for the Diocese of Lismore - Rev. Alexander Munyao

Father Alexander Munyao who studied at Vianney College was ordained to the priesthood on Friday 4 March 2016 in his native Kenya; St Zeno Catholic Parish Ndithini, Machakos Diocese. Fr Munyao was ordained for the diocese of Lismore, New South Wales, Australia, by the Most Reverend Geoffrey Jarrett, DD, Bishop of Lismore. Priests from the local area of Wagga Wagga represented the Diocese of Wagga at the ceremony.

Diaconate Ordination of Marco Daniel Killingsworth

On Saturday 23 April 2016 Marco Daniel Killingsworth was ordained a Deacon for the diocese of Wagga Wagga by The Most Reverend Gerard Hanna, DD, in St Michael’s Cathedral, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. The celebration was a joyous occasion for Reverend Killingsworth and all the community. A brother and sister of Reverend Killingsworth were present as well as a large number of friends.

First Mass - Rev. Fr. Reece Gerard Beltrame

Father Reece Beltrame celebrated his First Mass of Thanksgiving in his home parish of St Patrick’s Albury on Divine Mercy Sunday, 3 April 2016. Concelebrating with Fr Beltrame were local and visiting clergy. The Mass was beautified by celestial music from the St Patrick’s schola. The celebration was well attended by family and friends as well as parishioners of St Patrick’s Parish.

First Mass - Rev. Fr. Anthony Mary Onyedikachukwu Oboshi

Father Anthony Mary Oboshi celebrated his first Mass of Thanksgiving at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, South Wagga Wagga on Sunday 6 December 2015. Concelebrating with Fr Oboshi were local and visiting clergy. The celebration was well attended by family and friends as well as the Nigerian Community and parishioners of South Wagga Wagga parish. The liturgical celebration was beautified by traditional Nigerian music.

Father Jordan Perry gave the first lecture at Vianney College. He lectured from 1992-1996 and again from 2007-2012. In his second period at Vianney he also served as Spiritual Director.

Reception of New First Year Seminarians

On the 9th of February Vianney College welcomed three new seminarians, all from the Wagga Diocese:  Christopher Gillespie (Jindera), Gerard Letchford (Wagga Wagga), and Denis Hickey (Berrigan) The returning seminarians joined them a few days later and there followed a week of orientation activities, human formation sessions, and a visit to St. Mary Mackillop College in Jindera where the seminarians spoke to the various classes and joined them for a BBQ provided by the Wagga Serrans.

Institution of Accolites 2021

On Monday, 15th February the opening Mass was celebrated by Bishop Mark Edwards. During the Mass, Bishop Mark instituted two seminarians, Brother John Baptist Nguyen and Michael Perry, into the ministry of Acolyte. We welcomed two new staff members, Doctor Matthew Tan, the new Dean of Studies, and Mrs Anna Abraham from Canberra who lectures in Theology and Catechetics. We also welcome Father Gabriel Murray from The Rock who teaches the English course to the First Year students. Bishop Mark also began on that day to interview each of the seminarians individually. The Bishop fits this into his busy schedule when time allows and so this process continues.
